Orissa campaign in Natl billiards meets pre-mature end

Orissa’s campaign in the 76th Senior National Billiards Championship met a premature end with top two cueists of the state getting eliminated in the group league round at Agra today. State champion Subrat Das finished sixth and last in group ‘B’ with four defeats and one win. Orissa No 2 Haque did a little better by finishing fourth in group ‘C’ with three wins and two defeats. Top two cueists from each of the eight groups advanced to the pre-quarterfinals. Orissa results (Group league): Subrat Das lost to D Rajkumar (Kar) 1-3 (79-100, 101-92, 37-100, 25-102): lost to Geet Sethi 0-3 (49-102, 37-101, 26-100): lost to Arif Akhtar (Cha) 1-3 (100-42, 89-100, 93-100, 73-100): beat Nittin Kohli (UP) 3-1 (102-56, 101-85, 15-102, 100-51): lost to Deepak Rupani (AP) 0-3 (95-100, 48-101, 0-100). Ahsan-ul Haque beat Mundir Sherazi (Kar) 3-2 (55-100, 81-102, 101-70, 101-59, 101-99): lost to Dhruv Sitwala (PSPB) 0-3 (9-100, 25-101, 93-101): beat MC Manoj (TN) 3-0 (101-51, 101-44, 102-97): lost to Rafath Habib (Rly) 03 (31-102, 2-102, 51-100): beat Malkeet Singh (UP).
